It was very kind of you to have sent me a copy of your maiden publication titled "Directory on Indian Windpower 2001" and I thank you for the same. The publication contains a wealth of information on windpower development in India and I am sure it will be of great value to all those interested in wind power technology. It is an excellent compilation of relevant information on wind energy and I compliment you for this fine effort.
I was privileged to have had to role in taking key initiatives to jumpstart Windpower development in India. Availability of wind data for potential sites for setting up wind power projects in windy regions in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, West Bengal and Union Territories of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, where the mean annual wind power density exceeds 150 Watt per square meter, at 30 meter level above ground for a period of 1 to 3 years, under the following categories :
The cost of supplying above data on floppy diskette is Rs.20,000/- and Rs.15,000/- for category 1 and 2 per station per year respectively; plus Rs.200/- towards handling and mailing charges. The Volume V of Wind Energy Resource Survey in India containing wind data for 34 Wind Monitoring Stations, covering 10 States, is also available for sale at a cost of Rs.800/-, or Rs.860/- by post. Volume-VI of Wind Energy Resource Survey in India containing detailed wind data for 55 station is also available for sale alongwith the CD at a cost of Rs.2000/- and Rs.2125/- by post.
